Easy Orange Apple Crisp

Just when I felt like baking some apple crisp, the Autumn quietly walked in. So it’s no excuse needed for making some warming yet still refreshing apple crisp.

I’ve been making some apple crisp before, but I just want something different this time. So I do some Googling and browsing on Pinterest.

When I saw some people using orange as an addition to apple crisp, I thought I would like to try this combo, too. But the original recipe is not vegan, so, guess what? I’m going to vegan it!

Not only did I vegan it, but I also didn’t use any wheat flour to make it more friendly to gluten-sensitive friends. But I did use oats in this recipe, so if you are sensitive to gluten, use gluten-free oats.

It’s really simple to make. All you need to do is stirring and maybe some squeezing action.

It has 2 layers, the fruit base, and the topping. For the fruit base, just add all ingredients in a bowl and mix all together. Done.

For the topping, do the same as you do to the fruit base: Mix all together. Then just spread the topping mixture onto the fruit base in the baking dish.

(Why I feel like I didn’t type very sensible words in this post. :$ )

Bake it until it smells amazing and the topping is golden brown. BTW, I like to grate more orange zest on top for more a refreshing taste and smell, which is optional but highly recommended.

If you think just some orange zest and juice wouldn’t do something different, you have to give it try. Sometimes just a small thing would really make a difference, in this case, the orange.

Combined with the sweet from both orange and apple, this Orange Apple Crisp is like a peaceful prelude of autumn with the zesty orange undertone.

I really can’t wait for the autumn to come because it’s my favorite season of the year. What’s your favorite season? I’m curious about what season is the most popular one. Let me know in the comment and I would also really happy to know how did it went if you make this recipe. 🙂
