I love peanut butter, so I will try to incorporate it into every meal as far as I could. This Miso Peanut Sauce is one of the interesting ideas that I got when browsing on Pinterest and saw the recipe by Holistic Rendezvous.

I like the idea but the recipe I saw uses honey, which for sure is not going to appear in this recipe. For the first-visiting new friends who don’t have any idea why: Hi, I’m Nora and I’m vegan, for ethical reasons. (You could know more about me by reading the About page or watching this video.)

Vegan Miso Peanut Sauce

So I use one of my favorite sweeteners: maple syrup instead. And I also change the ratio of different seasonings and add more to make it taste spot-on for me.

I really like the sweetness from the maple syrup and the salty, umami flavor from the miso. What’s more, you got the who-does-not-love peanut butter there. I mean, hell yes.

It’s quite easy and quick to make this Miso Peanut Sauce as well, probably less than 5 minutes. You just mix all ingredients in a jar and then done.

You could take it as a meal-prep sauce. When you don’t have time to prepare a lot of stuff or just don’t want to cook, you could use this miso peanut sauce with your noodles, as a dressing for your salad or side dishes by adding more water to the ideal consistency.

Vegan Miso Peanut Sauce

You can use this miso peanut sauce in place of the Umami Easy Peanut Sauce in my Sweet Potato Salad or this Creamy Peanut Salad with Roasted Pumpkin recipe.

This Miso Peanut Sauce is a bit similar to my Umami Easy Peanut Sauce, but you really got a different undertone from the miso. Give them both a try and I think you would know what I’m talking about.

  • 1 Tbsp miso 味噌
  • 3 Tbsp peanut butter 花生醬
  • 2 Tbsp hot water 熱水
  • ½ Tbsp apple cider vinegar 蘋果醋
  • ½ Tbsp white sesame oil 白芝麻油
  • ½ tsp maple syrup 楓糖漿
  • 1 tsp mirin 味醂
  • 1 tsp minced ginger 薑碎, optional 選加

作法

  • Add all ingredients to a jar and mix together to combine. Taste to add more syrup or sesame oil if you prefer.
