Savory, sweet, and umami, this Peanut Sauce is great as a dip or salad dressing, especially for peanut butter lovers like me!
Umami Easy Peanut Sauce
Who doesn’t love peanut butter? Well, at least I do. In fact, I love them so much that I eat them almost every single day, be it on bananas or in my snacks. Seriously, I couldn’t figure out which day when I don’t have peanut butter in my bowl on the plate.
I usually taste my peanut butter plain (as it is) or incorporate them into snacks or desserts. However, recently I enjoy them in my savory dishes as well, thanks to this Umami Easy Peanut Sauce!
This peanut sauce is full of rich peanut-y flavor and creaminess. It’s a harmony between salty, sweet, sourness, and the indescribable umami flavor.
It only requires 7 ingredients and 5 minutes to make! Sound great right? And the gadgets you need are a jar and measuring spoons. Done.
You can enjoy it as a dip with carrot or cucumber sticks, or serve them as a salad dressing by adding more water to the consistency you like. Or you want to dip it with cracker … I’ll not stop you. You’re the one to decide how to do with it. 😉
One optional ingredient is lime juice. It’s summer, the season of lime in Taiwan. It’s a good way to use lime juice to lighten your palate and add additional flavor to your meal.
I personally like to use this umami peanut sauce for my sweet potato salad (recipe coming soon). But feel free to match it with anything you think would be great.
It can be pre-made and store in the fridge for about 1 week. I like to make different sauces ahead for the “summer” day. So when I don’t want to turn on my stove, I just use some steamed veggies, cooked grains or beans, and scoop out the sauce to mix all together ─ lazy meal done.

鹹甜花生調醬 Umami Easy Peanut Sauce
- 3 Tbsp peanut butter 花生醬
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce 醬油, or liquid amino if sensitive to gluten
- 1 knob ginger 薑, minced 切末
- 1 clove garlic 蒜瓣, minced 切末
- 1 tsp maple syrup 楓糖漿
- 1/2 Tbsp rice wine vinegar 米醋
- 1/2 tsp toasted sesame oil 白芝麻油
- 2-3 Tbsp drinking water 飲用水, to thin
- 1/2 Tbsp lime juice 檸檬汁, optional 非必要
- In a clean jar, add all ingredient and mix until all come together.
- Taste. Add more rice vinegar or maple syrup if you like. Or add more water to the consistency that fits your meal. Add a handful of chopped toasted peanuts if you like.
