Nutty, chocolatey, and super easy to make, this Chocolate Nut Crumble Mix is a delicious, lazy snack that you can make in 5 minutes!

Chocolate Hazelnut Crumble Mix
I love to make desserts that look fabulous, but sometimes I also just want to make something simple and sweet, which usually happenes when I’m lazy or busy. That’s the time when this Chocolate Nut Crumble came in.
How? I guess chocolate is hidden on the back of my brain all the time. So when I turn off my brain, he shows up. (You ask why is “he”? Well, “he” has been my secret boyfriend for a while. 😉)
And I fumbled through my fridge and saw my long-time-not-touched hazelnuts. So, here it is.
Yet this recipe actually doesn’t have the actual “chocolate”, but his proxy: cacao powder. But trust me, the flavor is still amazing and really chocolatey if you use great cacao powder.
Watch How to make it Here:

INGREDIENTS FOR CHOCOLATE HAZELNUT CRUMBLE
All you need is five simple ingredients to make this simple, bittersweet dessert/snack.
- Dates: the sweetener of this crumble mix. They also add a different texture.
- Hazelnuts: As you might have known, hazelnuts and chocolate is a match made in heaven. The nutty flavor from the hazelnuts is really one of a kind that’s irreplaceable. Sometimes I’ll mix in some macadamia nuts for more sweetness and nutty flavor.
- Rolled Oats: give this crumble a bit oaty tone and texture.
- Ground Flaxseed: serves as a binder and also adds more nutrition to this crumble.
- Cacao Powder: gives the crumble the chocolate flavor. Make sure you don’t use the one made for baking (alkalized), though.
Even though I only list 5 ingredients here, people who know me know that I’ll add a pinch of salt as well. You can also make it look fancy by adding them to jars, drizzle some vegan Nutella, and sprinkle some chopped hazelnuts or macadamia nuts.
All the 5 ingredients are easy to find, at least in Taiwan. I know hazelnuts are a little bit expensive, but hey, when it comes to chocolate sweets, that’s something worth spending from time to time, right?
HOW TO MAKE CHOCOLATE HAZELNUT CRUMBLE
It’s really easy to make this chocolate hazelnut crumble. I mean, it’s a kind of “lazy” dessert/snack. All you need to do is:
- Toast the hazelnuts. If you already bought the toasted one, just start from step 2.
- Chop the pitted dates in a food processor first.
- Add the rest ingredients. Blitz all together. Add a few dashes of water to help binding if needed.
- Done and EAT.

This is really a simple snack you can make in less than 5 minutes if you bought toasted hazelnuts. If not, toasting nuts will only take about 10 minutes, so don’t worry about the time.
Once it’s done, you can eat it right away just as it is. Or if you want to turn it into an impressive dessert, you can do what I did here: Transfer the mixture into jars, drizzle some vegan Nutella or other nut butter, and sprinkle some chopped nuts on top. (Read how to make nut butter Here.)

This crumble mix is full of the nutty flavor from the hazelnuts and the bittersweet chocolate flavor from the cacao powder and dates. It’s a kind of an adult-flavor snack/dessert, in my opinion. I hope you will like it too.
