This post is about these easy snack bars that I want to share with you. But first, let me tell you a little story about the relationship between Cheerios and me.

I’m not sure if you have noticed, but I’m telling you now anyway, that I’m officially in love with Cheerios. But the past relation between me and them is not simple.

I have wanted to try Cheerios for a very long time, but somehow I saw them as one of my slightly “fearing” food, which I still not sure what the heck does that come from. But I guess it’s because they’re not one of the “whole food” group.

As I started to treat my eating disorder more straight forward in an honest way, I realized that to solve the problem is to face it directly. So I started to try my “fear foods.”

And I finally had the chance to taste Cheerios last month, which led me to eat them almost every single day now.

Now it feels kind of weird for me thinking of the past when I was afraid of eating them. They’re just oats with a little “addition” processed into ring shapes and put into a package.

I had the revelation that the fear is really just all in our head. It’s ourselves decide to put it in. So when you let go, it goes away.

Since I’m in love with Cheerios, I had started to think of different ways to enjoy them. And you know that I love peanut butter and chocolate. So, I think, why not start from here?

INGREDIENTS FOR CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER CHEERIOS BARS

This recipe only requires 4 simple ingredients.

  • Cheerios: There are not many occasions for me to say the one word, so I’m gonna grab this opportunity: Duh. (no offense)
  • Peanut Butter: One of my favorite thing on the planet. I eat peanut butter every single day.
  • Maple Syrup: My beloved liquid gold. There’s no replacement for maple syrup in my opinion.
  • Dark Chocolate: I mean, let’s be honest. Who doesn’t like chocolate? (If you don’t, peace. Just give yours to me. 😉)

So, basically, these Cheerios bars are a combination of my loved foods.

To be clear, here I count Cheerios as one ingredient. I’m not going down the count the ingredients in Cheerios themselves because I think that’s is not really meaningful and practical.

It’s important to know that only if you want to make your own Cheerios. But I know that we don’t have time for that. So, let’s just grab a box of Cheerios, shall we?

HOW TO MAKE CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER CHEERIOS BARS

It’s really easy to make these Cheerios bars because they don’t require baking. And it’s only 4 ingredients here, no complication.

  1. Mix the peanut butter and maple together.
  2. Add the Cheerios. Stir to mix everything evenly.
  3. Press the mixture into a loaf pan and put into the freezer.
  4. Melt the chocolate and then pour over the Cheerios brick.
  5. Return to the freezer for 20 minutes. Cut into bars and EAT!

That’s it!

Here I make a small batch because I’m only making them for myself. But if you have a family to feed, just double, triple, or even quadruple the recipe and make them in a bigger loaf pan or brownie pan.

They also freeze really well, so you can make a big batch and freeze them.

When you feel like something sweet, grab one and let it stay at room temperature for 2-4 minutes.

  • 60 g (¼ cup) peanut butter 花生醬
  • 1 ½ Tbsp maple syrup 楓糖漿
  • 23 g (½ + ¼ cup) Cheerios 燕麥圈
  • 56 g (2 oz) dark chocolate 黑巧克力

作法

  • Line a 6″ loaf pan with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, add the peanut butter and maple syrup. Whisk them together.
  • Add the Cheerios. Stir to mix everything evenly.
  • Press the mixture into a loaf pan and put into the freezer.
  • Melt the chocolate by using a double boiler or a microwave. Remove the pan from the freezer. Pour the melted chocolate over the Cheerios brick. Wiggle the pan in different directions to let the brick evenly covered.
  • Return to the freezer for 20 minutes to harden up. Remove from the pan, cut into bars, and EAT!
